No. The card keeps its value until it is spent.

What if their basket costs more than the card?

They pay the difference by card. A $50 gift card against a $59.99 press covers the first $50, and the remaining $9.99 goes on their own card at checkout.

Can they spend it in parts?

Yes. If they spend $20 of a $50 card, the remaining $30 stays on the card for next time.

What can they spend it on?

Can I have it arrive on a particular day?
