Emily took up stitching because it slowed her down when she needed it, and everything she has made since comes from that. Her designs run to fairies, frogs and fantasy, because as she puts it, reality is over-rated.

Both kits teach the same five stitches on the same practice hoop, so there is no wrong choice. Pick the banner you would rather see on your wall: the Fairy or the Frog. Each is a two project kit for absolute beginners, and each takes four to six hours from first stitch to finished banner.
How it works
Practice first, then the real thing
You start on a practice hoop, learning one stitch at a time with nothing at stake. By the fifth stitch your hands know what they are doing, and only then do you move to the banner. That order is the whole idea: the piece you hang is made with stitches you have already done, not stitches you are trying for the first time.

I have never embroidered. Can I really do this?
Yes, and the practice hoop is why. You learn five stitches one at a time on fabric that does not matter, with a video for each, before you touch the banner. By the time you start the piece you will hang, every stitch in it is one you have already made.
Fairy or Frog, which should I start with?
Whichever you would rather hang. The two kits teach identical stitches in the same order, take the same four to six hours, and are both for absolute beginners. The only difference is the picture.

How long does it take?
Four to six hours over the two projects. The practice hoop is an evening; the banner is a weekend afternoon or two. There is no drying time and nothing to wait for, so you can stop and start whenever you like.
Do I need to buy anything else?
No. Hoops, fabric, threads, needles and the guide are in the box.
Is the design printed on the fabric?
The banner design is printed on the fabric, so you stitch over the lines rather than drawing them yourself.
Is it a good gift for a beginner?
It was designed as one. The box is made to be given, the kit assumes no experience, and the result is a banner the person will hang rather than a practice piece that goes in a drawer.
